5) Apply Schluter Kerdi membrane around the tub and shower using Schluter Kerdi trowel (6mm).

The first step in waterproofing a shower is the installation of backer rod into the wall cavity. The backer rod is used as a separation between the tile backer board and the wall surface in order to create an air space between them.
